Feedback on the 2009 festival

Postby alanritchie » Thu Jul 30, 2009 6:47 pm

It's only a few days since the 6th small festival finished but I am really looking forward to the 7th in 2010. All of us that participated in the organising of the festival would love to know what you thought about it. Was it good? Bad? Could we change things? This is our forum and this is where we can all voice our opinions. We can't change the weather but we can listen to you, the most important people, the people that make the small festival what it is! So, get on that keyboard and let us know what you really thought and let's make the 7th festival the best yet.
Many thanks
Alan

Hi, Sarah and Anji here aka Raw Lemon. We were Small Festival virgins. We had a great time and loved seeing all the other acts, the variety was great. We thought the organsiaton was great. In terms of what was happening, we would've liked more jamming and open mic sessions throughout the weekend. It would've been good to leave a slot in the evening for people who got together durung the day to perform. Can't get enough music I'm afraid!

Hi All,

I have a really fond memory of the singing around the fire on Friday and Saturday. It was just what my frazzled nerves needed. There were some really good songs and really good singers. I felt very nurtured and wanted it to go on and on. So much so that a few of us scraped the barrel with Christmas carols. I know that Saturday's fire competed with the party and i hope something gets organised for 2010 so everyone can enjoy each event.

As one of the people who created and organised the festival it is hard to step back and get an impression but one thing i did notice is that it has engaged and inspired people to get involved in such a way that it has "a life of its own". I think that the festival needed an intense amount of work on the part of the organisers to get it going in the first years but this year for the first time i felt like many people were "carrying" the festival. But this year's was also the first that i completely stepped back to concentrate on family life. I wonder if i have been working too hard for the last few festivals? When did the festival become everyone's festival rather than the committee's?
